At the end of 2024, the German Senate for Economic Affairs and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) jointly awarded the SDG Innovation Award for the third time. The award-winning develoPPP project implemented by Wilo in Germany in cooperation with the German company BMZ shows the concrete application of sustainable innovation. As part of the project, the two companies modernized the heating systems of public buildings such as schools, kindergartens and administrative buildings in Mongolia, achieving energy efficiency while contributing to climate protection.

The SDG Innovation Award is designed to recognize outstanding companies that put the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals at the center of their actions. The award aims to recognize initiatives that combine environmental and climate protection with economic development, especially to strengthen development in the Global South. 270 entities from 38 countries applied and competed for this year's award (including companies, cities and municipalities, youth and educational institutions, etc.).
